1. We <3 Barcelona

Helen and I have conferred and it is official: Barcelona is our favourite city so far.

From the architecture, to the food, to the general laid-back vibe of the city and its occupants, it’s probably the first time in the last three weeks we’ve both truly felt on holiday. Today, for example, we didn’t leave our cosy pensione (hat-tip to Jenny for that pearler) until 3pm! We were so relaxed, eating and drinking on our balcony, and swanning around in our towels that we were enjoying ourselves far too much to want to leave! And when we finally did, we caught the bus up the road to Parc Guell, perused the Gaudi museum, strolled through a UNESCO world heritage site, took in some breathtaking views of the city, had a delightful dinner for all of 20euro, and walked home through some backstreets, hand in hand, as the sun set on another gorgeous day in Spain. We’re both really happy, it must be said!

It’s also much appreciated that Barcelona is so cheap! Not really cheap compared to back home, but compared to London and the ear-splittingly-expensive Paris, Barcelona is heaven! On our last night in Paris, we were both quite tired so we chose a little place close by that had their menu in English and pictures of food: a grave mistake. It cost us 40euro all up and was probably the most disappointing meal of the trip. We splashed out down by the water last night in Barcelona for less than that and the food was spectacular! In fact, I’ll post some pictures of it, it looked so fantastic.

Helen and I are very excited about the next few days here. We have a wee kitchenette stocked with goodies, and really enjoying a wee bit of downtime after three weeks of non-stop action!

    Bye for now x
